Are you thinking of running for your local Association? I thought this packet was some great information about is Board/Leadership and what is Association Executive/CEO responsibilities. Every Association has different ways to handle the work of running the Association, but this is a well rounded list.
I can tell you that during my time on the Board of my local and through my presidential role I learned so much that I was able to put into my business. My understanding of our advocacy efforts grew exponentially and has helped my clients in knowing where to connect them for county and city services. The networking and getting to know more members in the Association was a big benefit. I worked a couple of deals with members I got to know and it was much easier to work through issues because we had a mutual respect. I could go on and on about the benefits. I think you are getting my point.
It is time out of your schedule/business. So definitely make sure that you are looking at the whole picture. You will need to set aside time for meetings and calls. You will become very good about time blocking. :)
